Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- In a skillet, cook bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving 1 tablespoon of grease in the pan.
- Add diced onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent. Add ground beef, season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and cook until browned. Drain excess grease.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in heavy cream and milk, stirring until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
- Arrange half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish. Layer with half the beef mixture and pour half the cream sauce over the top. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, beef, and sauce.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil, top with shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon, and bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired. Enjoy!

- For evenly cooked potatoes, use a mandoline slicer to achieve uniform thickness.
- Substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
