- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 medium carrots, thinly sliced
- 1 celery stalk, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 3 cups mashed potatoes (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any excess grease and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté the onion, carrots, celery, and garlic until softened (about 5 minutes). Add the ground beef back to the skillet and stir in the tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly into a baking dish.
- Layer the mashed potatoes over the beef mixture, spreading evenly to create a smooth surface.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the mashed potatoes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes

- For added flavor, sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top of the cheddar.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Freeze for up to 3 months for longer storage.
- To reheat, bake covered at 350°F (175°C) until heated through, or microwave individual portions on high for 1-2 minutes.
