  • Author: Ava McKenney
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 15 Cheese Balls 1x

Description

These Cheese Balls are the ultimate appetizer or snack, featuring a crispy golden coating and a gooey, cheesy center. Perfect for parties, game nights, or whenever you’re craving something indulgent and delicious, they’re quick to make and always a crowd favorite!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or a mix of mozzarella and cheddar)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Boil and mash the potatoes until smooth, ensuring no lumps remain.
  2. In a bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, shredded cheese, flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder. Mix into a dough-like consistency.
  3. Take a small portion of the mixture, flatten it in your palm, and place a cube of mozzarella cheese in the center. Roll it into a ball, sealing the cheese completely. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
  4. Dip each cheese ball into the beaten egg, then roll in breadcrumbs until fully coated. For extra crispiness, repeat for a double coating.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry the Cheese Balls in batches for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Chilling Tip: Refrigerate the shaped Cheese Balls for 15-20 minutes before frying to help them hold their shape.
  • Storage: Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen (uncooked) for up to 1 month. Fry frozen balls directly, adding 1-2 extra minutes.
  • Custom Flavors: Add chili flakes, herbs, or spices to the potato mixture for extra flavor.
